"Art at the Boyne" was a TDSB visual arts enrichment programme in the 1990s and early 2000s. Selected "exceptional art students" in Toronto-area visual arts classes were given the chance to go to a sleepaway arts camp for a week in early October where they learned to further their creative & artistic interests or learn a new art discipline.

i was chosen by my art teacher, ms. mary chivilo, and used the week to learn photography from the very ground up. we learned SLR basics, light metering, composition, developing, and printing. shooting exclusively on Kodak Tri-X 400 (5063 TX) black & white film, my pursuits were mostly... uninspired and showed mediocre technical skill, but it was a learning experience that i have used to this day, although i have not developed my own film since then.

in return, ms. chivilo asked for a "journal" of my week away. these are some of the personal photos i found in that journal recently. (many more are missing.)
